Data Deletion Instructions

This page explains how to delete your account and personal data from Wakebrief ("we", "us", "our"), operated by PIMAS I CAÑELLAS 2012 SLU, CIF B55150114, contactable at legal@wakebrief.com.

Wakebrief processes data on behalf of its customers and is required under the GDPR, Spanish LOPDGDD, and Meta's Platform Terms to provide a clear, accessible way to request the deletion of your personal data.

How to request deletion

You have two equivalent options. Both result in the same outcome.

Option A — In-app (recommended)

  1. Sign in to your account at app.wakebrief.com.
  2. Open Settings → Account.
  3. Click Delete my account and all my data.
  4. Confirm by typing your email address in the confirmation field.
  5. You will receive an email summary of the deletion within 24 hours.

Option B — By email

Send an email to legal@wakebrief.com from the email address registered to your account, with the subject line "Data deletion request". We will respond within seven (7) days to confirm receipt and within thirty (30) days to confirm completion.

If you cannot access the registered email account, contact us at the same address with reasonable proof that you are the data subject (for example, your last invoice number from Stripe), and we will assist you.

What gets deleted

When you request deletion, we permanently delete the following data:

  • Your account record (email, authentication tokens, login history).
  • Your Service configuration (competitor list, hashtag list, business description, delivery preferences).
  • Your Instagram OAuth connection (we also revoke the access token with Meta, so we can no longer query their APIs on your behalf).
  • All public Instagram content we have observed on your behalf (posts, captions, metrics, computed trends).
  • All newsletters previously generated for you.
  • Internal logs that reference your account or your tenant ID.

What we are legally required to keep

Spanish tax and accounting law (Código de Comercio, Art. 30) requires us to retain commercial accounting records — including invoices and payment records — for six (6) years after the end of the relevant fiscal year. These records contain only your name, billing address, VAT ID (if any), and the amounts invoiced; they do not contain Service operational data.

Backups

Personal data may persist in encrypted backups for up to thirty (30) additional days after deletion before backups are rotated and overwritten. During this window the data is not accessible to our application or to staff for routine purposes; it can only be restored as part of a full disaster-recovery procedure, which we do not invoke for individual restorations.

Third-party data we may have observed

Wakebrief queries publicly available Instagram content via Meta's official APIs (Business Discovery and Hashtag Search). If you are not a Wakebrief customer but believe your public Instagram posts have been processed by us as part of a customer's monitoring configuration, you can request that we remove and stop processing that content.

Send an email to legal@wakebrief.com with the subject line "Removal request — third party" including:

  • Your Instagram handle.
  • A statement that you are the account holder or are authorized to act for it.
  • Confirmation that you do not consent to having your publicly published content summarized by our customers.

We will remove the relevant data from our database within thirty (30) days and add your handle to a blocklist that prevents future processing. Note that this does not stop other parties (manual users, other services, Meta itself) from observing your public posts; it only affects Wakebrief.

Confirmation

When deletion is complete, we will send you an email summary stating:

  • The date deletion was completed.
  • The categories of data deleted.
  • Any data retained under legal obligation (with the retention end date).
  • Confirmation that your Meta OAuth token has been revoked.

Your rights

If we fail to delete your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency:
